This bill is not socialized medicine.  I am a retired nurse and a volunteer with the Health Security Campaign.  We have been pushing for single payer health access for all New Mexicans for several years.  The for profit insurance companies and the insurance lobbyists label this plan, "socialized medicine".  It is upsetting to me that this site labels our bill in such a way.  This would create a co-op in which all New Mexicans would be covered.  Isn't it  past time to get the uninsured insured.  Something is wrong when many people can not afford any coverage.

I just read the bill and what I came away with was a view of one big black hole that our tax dollar will disappear into. Based on personal experience, I am not able to believe that a governmental commission is going to be able to operate the program efficiently. I will agree that the pervious poster is correct in saying the bill should not be called socialize medicine. If you do a search you we not find the word socialize anywhere in the text of the bill.

My wife is certified with the New Mexico Insurance Pool Low Income Premium Program. Thanks to Patty Jennings, my wife has medical coverage. The program has Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Mexico to administer the program. I would rather see this program expanded to provide health coverage to everyone who can’t afford insurance premiums. I have VA, so I didn't need the POOL.
