This bill enables serious penalties to be taken against irrresponsible school districts that don't submit their audits in due time, including withholding operating funds from them.  This measure was signed into law- let's just hope it actually works to make schools more accountable and conscientious of their spending.

Introduced in the House on January 27, 2009, to create penalties for school districts, charter schools, and regional education cooperatives that do not submit annual audit reports on time and allow the state education secretary to suspend boards of education elected by the public
