Introduced by Sen. Lynda M. Lovejoy (D) on January 16, 2008, to appropriate $300,000 to create a government program for educating people about the authenticity of Native American arts and crafts, and to promote Native American artists. The federal Indian Arts and Crafts Board is also tasked with directing the economic development of American Indian art and artists. Currently, the artists may also create various insignia to authenticate their work.
